6 Favorite Truckee Art Galleries
Perhaps more this time of year than any other, is our favorite time to step outside, walk our main streets, and take in our historic and beautiful Truckee-Tahoe area. Outdoor lifestyle in our beautiful, majestic, and mountainous area is reflected in our resident artisans, craftspeople, and the galleries they create in. You already know that many skillful and talented people call Truckee-Tahoe home. This post is to introduce you to or help you refresh your list of many of the galleries in our area. Most of these local artisans’ businesses are steps away, easy to enjoy, and a treat to support.
KNACK Truckee brings two unique artists together to join the eclectic Truckee art community. Jeweler, Lorien Powers and Photographer Nancy Holliday, can be found in Downtown Truckee, where the sidewalk ends (around the corner from Moody's Bistro). Be sure to check out their beautiful mix of custom fine jewelry and fine art photography framed in recycled barn wood frames.
Located in the Capital Building on Donner Pass Road, Art Obsessions features artists like Frank Ordaz – currently their Featured Artist of the Month – and many other influential artists on the national and international scene. Please visit Art Obsessions’ website to view their artists’ gallery or find out more information.
Carmel Gallery also features Fine Art. In their case, they showcase the Fine Art photographs of Olof and Elizabeth Carmel. The owners/artists recognize most art lovers “believe in the visual pleasure of beauty, and that enhancing your environment enhances your life.” Located at The Carmel Gallery in Truckee, the artists feature Lake Tahoe Art among their collections.
“World-renowned fine art and extreme sports photographer” Keoki Flagg’s work can be admired and purchased at Gallery Keoki. Though located in the Village at Squaw Valley, you can browse Keoki’s extensive collection online if you wish. The site’s gift shop features Prints on Metal, Warren Miller Ski Films, Books, and more.
JoAnne’s Stained Glass
Stained Glass, while remaining as alluring and magically compelling as it has always been, takes on new and exciting forms at JoAnne’s Stained Glass. Her studio is located in our historic downtown area. There you’ll find bowls, Tiffany and other lamps, paperweights, and many other objets d’art. In addition to visiting her site or better yet, her gallery (7 days a week), you can give her a call at (530) 587-1280.
Riverside Studios, on Donner Pass Road, is owned and operated by five artists. For “fresh perspective” they invite you to First Friday with them, where every month they offer something special. In November, they hosted their 4th annual Seconds Sale. Check their special First Fridays page to see what’s coming up next. Visit their main website’s Shop to find one of a kind objects like their Cleopatra Wallet or various coasters, candle holders, authentic rail spike hooks, and considerably more.
