What's Happening in February in Truckee

 

February is a great time to be in Truckee. Beyond the great outdoor adventures, there are many events around town. See what events we are excited about this month. 

PRACTICE → the art of the written word at Word After Word Books’ Writing Series on February 7th and 21st. They will rotate topics and themes, always with an emphasis on building a writing practice, improving craft, and generating story ideas. Word After Word Books Truckee

DRINK → with the Pour House Wine Shop. On February 15th, from 5-7 PM the Pour House will be offering wine tastings for $10. Proceeds will go to a local non-profit. More information can be found online or by calling the shop at 530-550-9664.

SHRED → the Love with Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) at Alpine Meadows on February 16th -17th. B4BC is kicking off the weekend with yoga at the Yoga Studio Tahoe, coffee and art auction at Dark Horse Coffee. On Saturday, skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities join us for Lap-A-Thon benefitting B4BC. The party will keep going all day with live music, raffles, silent auctions and more. More information and schedule of events available on Squaw's website

B4BC Alpine Meadows

LEARN → about the Donner Party at the Sierra Speaker Series: The Donner Party Chronicles with Frank Mullen on February 17th. The Donner Party has become a tragic icon of the American march west. From Independence, Missouri, to Sutter’s Fort, California, the party endured almost unimaginable hardship and suffering. Author Frank Mullen gives us a day by day account of their struggle for survival as they journey across the trail west. Complimentary refreshments will be served, with beverages available for purchase. A $5 donation is suggested for this free program. More information can be found on their website.

SHOW OFF → your skiing talents at the Tahoe Donner Winter Superstars Week, February 17th - 24th. Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Resort is looking for superstars, so come out and win some medals! Events are for all ages and include ski and snowboard races, a sled pull, and a mini terrain park event. Sign-ups are the day of, more information can be found online

Dinner in Truckee

EAT → at one of the nine Stella pop-up dinners at the Cedar House Sport Hotel for an unforgettable meal and experience. Designed and formatted like a spirited dinner party, a Stella Pop Up event is an exploration of creative cooking. Guests are served one tasting menu for each gathering and will seat communally. Each course is served at the same time with some commentary from the Stella Kitchen team. February features Valentine’s Day, Chinese New Year, and Mardi Gras dinner themes. SUPPORT → local education by skiing all month. Local resorts annually offer skiers and snowboarders access to discounted lift tickets and the opportunity to support local education. 100% of lift ticket proceeds benefit the Excellence in Education Foundation. Participating resorts include Homewood, Northstar, Tahoe Donner Downhill, Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, Tahoe XC, and Tahoe Donner Cross Country. More information can be found on their website.
