1. Truckee Free Holiday Shuttle

For the third year in a row, the Town of Truckee in partnership with local businesses has made getting into Downtown Truckee easy and convenient with FREE shuttle service from the local neighborhoods to Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows and Northstar! Residents and visitors alike can help reduce congestion and their carbon footprint by leaving the car behind this holiday season. Enjoy one of Truckee’s most festive times of the year and forget the traffic and parking hassles! FREE neighborhood shuttles will be providing service to/from Downtown Truckee between 6 PM and 2 AM daily. The neighborhood shuttles will service the following areas: Donner Lake, Sierra Meadows, Brockway, Gateway, Deerfield, West River St., Prosser, Tahoe Donner, Glenshire. Connections between the neighborhood and resort shuttles can be made in Downtown Truckee at the Truckee Train Depot.

2. Merry Days and Holly Nights

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows is celebrating its third annual Merry Days & Holly Nights, two weeks of spirited events and activities December 16-31. Enjoy a weekend full of events, with farm-to-table dinners, happy hours, and live music, leading up to the New Year’s Eve extravaganza. Start the 31st off with a skiing or riding with Chief Mountain Host and Olympic Gold Medalist, Jonny Moseley as he takes you on a mountain tour of Squaw Valley or Alpine Meadows. After a fun-filled day of skiing, head to the village for the New Year’s Eve Family Celebration. There will be fun and exciting kid's activities, a fireworks show, live music, and drinks for the parents. Olympic House will be completely open for an unforgettable NYE family party, ending with an East Coast New Year's Eve ball drop featuring DJs and a Balloon Drop.

Don’t forget to take part in the World’s Largest Torchlight Parade! Squaw Valley is attempting the world's largest torchlight parade by inviting all skiers and riders ages 5+ to join together for the final lap of 2018 on New Year's Eve, lighting up the night sky with colorful LED torches as they thread down the 3.2-mile Mountain Run. This FREE event will take place at 5:45pm at the top of the Gold Coast Funitel.

3. California Honeydrops at Crystal Bay Casino

Don't miss the high-energy live performance from the California Honeydrops and their special guest, Achilles Wheel for New Year’s Eve. Drawing on diverse musical influences from Bay Area R&B, funk, Southern soul, Delta blues, and New Orleans second-line, the Honeydrops bring vibrant energy and infectious dance-party vibes to their shows.

4. New Year's Eve Light Parade and Fireworks Show at Tahoe Donner

This fun event at  Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Area is for intermediate skiers and riders ages 10 or older who can ski or ride unassisted in the dark on our Race Course run. Come early to secure a spot in the parade. Sign-ups are from 4:30 - 5:45 PM with a chair loading time at 6:15 PM. The New Years Fireworks show will follow the light Parade. This is a free event with music, and snacks will be provided in the bar area prior to the parade.

5. Fire and Ice at Northstar California

Ring in the New Year at one of the best fireworks shows in Lake Tahoe! Celebrate with family and friends around the outdoor ice skating rink in the Village at Northstar with BoomBox Party Band, an ice bar and warm fire pits all night long.
