We love this time of year in Lake Tahoe! Even though Christmas has passed, we are still feeling incredibly festive and ready to celebrate the New Year. If you are in need of some last minute North Lake Tahoe and Truckee New Year’s Eve ideas, we have you covered!

1. Truckee Free Holiday Shuttle

For the second year in a row, the Town of Truckee in partnership with local businesses has made getting into Downtown Truckee easy and convenient with FREE shuttle service from Truckee neighborhoods and Northstar! Residents and visitors alike can help reduce congestion by leaving the car behind this holiday season. Enjoy one of Truckee’s most festive times of the year and forget the traffic and parking hassles! Convenient shuttles will be traveling to and from Downtown Truckee from the local neighborhoods and Northstar. FREE neighborhood shuttles will be providing service to/from Downtown Truckee between 6 PM and 2 AM daily. The neighborhood shuttles will service the following areas: Donner Lake, Sierra Meadows, Brockway, Gateway, Deerfield, West River St., Prosser, Tahoe Donner and Glenshire. Connections between the neighborhood and resort shuttles can be made in Downtown Truckee at the Truckee Train Depot. FREE nightly resort shuttles will be providing service to/from Downtown Truckee and Northstar between 6 PM and 2 PM daily. Connections between holiday shuttle routes and TART’s free night service can be made nightly at Northstar.

2. Merry Days and Holly Nights

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows is celebrating its second annual Merry Days & Holly Nights, two weeks of spirited events and activities December 16-31. Merry Days & Holly Nights will bring Santa to town along with spectacular music and dance performances, delicious Farm-to-Table Dinners, parties, fireworks to ring in the New Year and much more. The arts shine this holiday season with a grand performance of Handel’s Messiah by the 22 musicians and 40 vocalists of the Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, as well as a big band take on the holiday classics by the 17-piece Reno Jazz Orchestra.

Among other family-friendly events and activities, long-beloved events will continue to light up the season, such as Moonlit Snowshoe Tour & Dinners at Alpine Meadows and skiing with Olympian Jonny Moseley at both Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. With over 6,000 acres of skiable terrain across two mountains and slopeside lodging at the Village at Squaw Valley, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows is the place to be for an all-in-one holiday getaway.

3. Ozomatli at Crystal Bay Casino

Don't miss the high-energy live performance from Ozomatli on Friday night. Brass instruments, guitars, horns, percussion, rap and vocals bring their shows to life and get audience members on their feet.

4. New Year's Eve Light Parade and Fireworks Show at Tahoe Donner

This fun event at  Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Area is for intermediate skiers and riders ages 10 or older who can ski or ride unassisted in the dark on our Race Course run. Come early to secure a spot in the parade. Sign-ups are from 4:30 - 5:45 PM with a chair loading time at 6:15 PM. The New Years Fireworks show will follow the light Parade. This is a free event with music, and snacks will be provided in the bar area prior to the parade.

5. Fire and Ice at Northstar California

Ring in the New Year at one of the best fireworks shows in Lake Tahoe! Celebrate with family and friends around the outdoor ice skating rink in the Village at Northstar with The Who Show cover band, an ice bar and warm fire pits all night long. 6. Pine Needle Baskets

Head to Atelier in historic downtown Truckee to learn how to make beautiful baskets with long leaf pine needles. Students don't need any experience as they will learn all of the steps and take home their completed basket.

7. Tahoe City Winter Sports Park Ice Rink

Family and friends can enjoy the beautiful winter weather in North Lake Tahoe from Tahoe City's ice skating rink and winter sports park on the weekends.

8. Champagne Brunch at Manzanita

9. Dinner at West Shore Cafe

Celebrate New Year’s Eve on the breathtaking West Shore of Lake Tahoe at the West Shore Cafe. A first-class celebration that includes: bubbly, noise makers and of course, a chef’s tasting menu. Doors will open with cocktail hour at 7 p.m. and dinner will begin at 8 p.m. Enjoy live music by Jeff Jones & company as you celebrate lakeside with friends and family.
