RUN → your heart out at the Great Trail Race on Sunday, October 8th. The Great Trail Race, an epic point to point route, will run between Truckee and Tahoe City. Participants may choose to trail run or mountain bike one of two course options, Elite or Classic. Make the event the goal of your summer training, then dig deep and beat your age-group rivals. Or set your own pace and enjoy a beautiful Tahoe mountain bike ride, Tahoe trail run or walk through the Sierra forest. Whatever your speed, wear the T-shirt with pride year around.

SIP → shop and stroll your way through downtown Truckee at the 14th Annual Wine, Walk & Shop Saturday, October 7th. Attendees will enjoy award-winning wines paired with local food tastings while checking out all the boutiques Truckee offers. Attendees will receive a commemorative wine glass to sample wine at 30+ venues as well as five food tickets and a map to all participating venues. Get ready to wine, walk and shop!


EAT → pho while fundraising for Project MANA on Tuesday, October 10th. The non-profit will be serving up soul-satisfying Pho made from the recipes of a retired Vietnamese Pho Master for a community dinner at Cottonwood. Click here for tickets.

UNCOVER → great Truckee artists at a showcase presented by Truckee Public Arts Commission. “Hidden In Plain Sight” will feature local artists who will be showing their work for the first time or for the first time in a long time. The Truckee High Jazz Ensemble will also be debuting a new musical experience. Refreshments and light nibbles served.

CELEBRATE → fall with Tahoe Donner’s 8th Annual Fall Festival on Saturday, October 14th.  There’s something for everyone at the festival from arts and craft vendors, the annual doggie dip, seasonal beer offerings, the pumpkin patch, a carnival area for kids with arts, crafts, games, food and more.

HIKE → with history for the Donner Party Hike on Saturday, October 14th and Sunday the 15th. Exploring this region on interpretive walks and hikes, you can almost hear the clip-clop of oxen and the rumble of wagon wheels, as countless emigrants scaled the mighty Sierra Nevada in search of a better life. Learn about the success of the Stephens Party; the tragic events the Donner Party endured; and the importance of the transcontinental railroad. Choose from 6 different hikes Saturday or a walking tour on Sunday.


SPOOK → yourself at Truckee's Historical Haunted Tour on Thursday, October 19th. It will be an unforgettable night of Truckee history on this fun and rowdy tour!  The Tour features engaging tales performed by talented characters at seven historical sites in Downtown Truckee.

WATCH → the Auto and Tire Doctor attempt to break the world record for the largest tutu on Saturday, October 28th. The tutu will be put onto NAPA Auto Parts’ giant semi on National Make a Difference Day to bring awareness and donations to the Tutu Project, a foundation that supports breast cancer patients with things that insurance doesn’t cover. There will be raffle, so come to hang out before the tutu unveiling!
