What's Going on in Truckee This July


Things to do and places to go to make the most out of July in Truckee and Lake Tahoe.

START your summer off right with 4th of July events happening around Truckee and North Tahoe. Join in some of the areas beloved traditions, like the Parade through downtown Truckee or hot laps at Squaw Valley. Check out all the not-to-be-missed events now. After the 4th, be sure to check out these other fun, summer events we are excited about this year.

CLIMB Squaw Valley’s Tram Face with the Via Ferrata with Alpenglow Expeditions. The Via Ferrata, which means “Iron Road” in Italian, is a protected hiking and climbing experience. All clients will be guided by professionally trained mountain guides, and safely attached to the rock throughout the experience using permanent steel anchors and cables. Each participant will have a harness, helmet and safety lanyard provided by Alpenglow Expeditions.

Kick off the climbing season at the Tahoe Via Ferrata's Grand Opening party on July 3 with a half day climb on the Tahoe Via Ferrata for just $99, live music, Sufferfest Beer Booth with all proceeds benefitting the Truckee Donner Land Trust and the Donner Summit Climbers Coalition.

WATCH the annual Truckee Tahoe Airshow and Family Festival at the Truckee Tahoe Airport the 13th-14th. The air show and festival is proudly known as one of the region’s most family-friendly FREE events. Experience a breathtaking and world-class air show with world-renowned aerobatic performers. Family-friendly festivities include a designated Family Festival on the green with live music, stilt walkers, arts and crafts, puppet shows, and much more. The Suddenlink by Altice STEM Expo offers hands-on activities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. And, on Sunday, July 14, children ages 8 – 17 can fly for free by one of numerous pilot volunteers with the EAA Local Chapter 1073 Young Eagles program. SIP your way through Squaw Valley July 13th-14th at the Art, Wine, and Music Festival. The Village at Squaw Valley will burst with color, taste and sound as fine artists, craft makers, performers and musicians come to participate in this fun two-day annual event from 11am-5pm each day. The Art, Wine & Music Festival features wine tasting from 2-5pm, performance stages, restaurants, shops and walkways lined with fine art booths and exhibits. CELEBRATE your inner yogi at the annual Wanderlust Festival at Squaw Valley on the 18th-21st. The world-renowned Wanderlust Yoga Festival is four days of yoga, meditation, music, nature and camaraderie all in the pristine setting of Squaw Valley. Some of the world’s best yoga and wellness teachers, and top musical acts descend upon Squaw for the event, bringing expertise and passion to the festival. Learn more and grab tickets here.


LEARN all about the Transcontinental Railroad at the 150th Anniversary celebration in Truckee all month long. From live interactions at the 4th of July Parade and Truckee Air Show, to dinner, historical talks, and hikes, there is no shortage of ways to immerse yourself in the rich history and relationship between Truckee and the railroad.
