What's Going on in Truckee this June
Truckee is winding up for a fantastic summer. June brings us back some of our favorite Truckee traditions -- including Truckee Thursdays! -- as well as so many ways to enjoy the long, warming days. Be sure to check out these not-to-be-missed events to make the most of June in Truckee!
CELEBRATE the thawing of Spring at Truckee’s FREE Craw Thaw Music Festival on May 31st-June 2nd. This will be the second year the Craw Thaw Music Festival takes over Downtown Truckee with will a fun, family friendly New Orleans-inspired street festival. This year, there will be an expanded music lineup that includes regional and national performers, family fun, a larger event footprint, and more food and drink options. We can’t wait to see Friday’s headliner, the 2018 Grammy-nominated headliner “Dwayne Dopsie & The Zydeco Hellraisers,” bringing their high-energy style of Zydeco music all the way from Lafayette, LA. GIVE BACK by helping keep Truckee clean on the 1st at the 16th Annual Truckee Day Street Clean-Up. The day will be a town-wide litter clean-up and block party! You’ll get cleaning materials, volunteer t-shirt, free lunch ticket, and an assigned stretch of road to clean. Pre-registration is not required! There will be over 20 check-in stations across town-- find yours here. After the cleanup, enjoy some music and a free BBQ to reward your hard-earned work.
TOAST to the 14th Annual Truckee Brew Fest on June 8th from 1-5pm. The festival features more than 40 beers and live music in Truckee Regional Park. It will be a great day in the park, with brews, fun and live music. Proceeds benefit Truckee youth. CHECK OUT the Truckee Roundhouse Maker Show on the 9th from 11am-5pm. The 5th Annual Maker Show is the non-profit’s most important fundraising event of the year, with an eclectic assortment of interactive arts, technologies, hobbies and projects along with food trucks, beer, live music, art cars, kids activities, silent auction, and raffle prizes. GET DOWN to downtown Truckee for Truckee Thursdays starting the 13th! That’s right, Truckee Thursdays is back for the 12th year, bringing with it live music, a food court, artisan vendors, merchant and community displays, children’s activities, and a beer garden. CAPTURE natural beauty during the Donner Lake Photo Walk on the 30th from 6-8pm. Join Truckee- based professional photographer Grant Kaye on a casual walk around the beautiful Donner Lake as he helps you build on photography foundations to fully unleash your creative vision. Learn strategies for better composition, pre-visualization, and the use of smartphone apps to anticipate sunset conditions. Any kind of camera is welcome in this workshop. KAYAK into the beautiful summer sunsets every Friday this month with Tahoe Adventure Company. This kayak trip is a great way to end a full day. The tour will meet at the Tahoe Vista Recreation Area to watch the colors change and the stars appear. The tour guides will cover natural and human history before heading back to the beach for some hot drinks, snacks, and stargazing. Find more information here.
