SYMG Guide Wilson Koontz will share his top picks for side trips along the John Muir Trail, the most iconic peaks to visit in this part of the High Sierra and shorter segment options for those with limited time to get out. Experts from Tahoe Mountain Sports and Deuter will be doing free backpack fittings for all attendees. CELEBRATE CINCO DE MAYO →  at The Lodge at Tahoe Donner. Friday, May 5th, celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Tahoe Donner for their annual party! They'll be celebrating with tasty Mexican food specials, $5 margaritas, $3 Coronas, and Happy Hour all night long throughout the entire restaurant. 

WALK WITH YOUR COMMUNITY →  The Community Walking Challenge is a free month-long fitness challenge to take 10,000 steps a day every day in May! Everyone from everywhere of every age can participate. Challenge yourself, friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to be more active. Inspire someone you know to get more exercise by inviting them to join you in the challenge. LEARN WITH YOUR COMMUNITY → At Good Morning Truckee: Cheers! Brew Beer, Distill Spirits, Make Wine on Tuesday, May 9th at 7pm. The wine boom of the 1970s and 1980s led into the craft beer revolution that began in the decades after and continues today. Now artisanal distilleries are gaining momentum. Truckee is home to several libation-making facilities. Hear from our group of experts what the trends are in this business sector, what they bring to our community economy, and their tourism draw. Speakers include: Andy Barr of FiftyFifty Brewing Co., Kevin Murphy of Old Trestle Distillery, Katy Jones of Truckee River Winery, Kevin Drake of Alibi Ale Works, and  Andrea Keil of Tahoe Mountain Brewing Co.

WATCH A PLAY → Truckee High School presents Roger & Hammerstein’s famous musical, “South Pacific.” One of the most famous Broadway musicals of all time, “South Pacific” has won 10 Tony Awards and features iconic songs such as “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair” and “Some Enchanted Evening.” The play is going on Friday, Saturday and Sundays in May, check the event page for dates and tickets.

GET SUMMER READY HERE → On Thursday, May 18th, Tahoe Mountain Sports and Adventure Dining Guide will have a camp cooking demonstration and tasting where participants can learn to cook delicious backcountry meals and snacks made with local ingredients from the Tahoe Food Hub that are easy to make right on the trails.
